Question

Can we prevent the alert message onscreen when adjusting volume connected to external speakers?

When I first hooked up my Sonos Playbar to my UE55F800, all was good in the world. The volume controls on the Samsung remote controlled the volume on the TV and did not display an alert message onscreen. That was until late May when the updated firmware (1102.2) was released.

Now, every time I try to adjust the volume I am reminded of what I already know. Yes, the volume does get adjusted on the Playbar, and yes the message goes away after five seconds or so -- but I would prefer it not display at all.

Please make this error message configurable in the menu so we don't have to see it any more. The previous firmware was fine and did not display this message.

Failing that, is it possible to roll back to the previous version of the firmware? If so, where can I get it? It is not available on the Downloads page for this model.

Should the TV pass through Dolby 5.1 from a BD-F5500 Bluray player to the TV to output over TOSLINK?

I have a Samsung BD-F5500 Bluray player connected to this TV via HDMI to the HDMI-ARC input of the TV. The digital output (TOSLINK) from the TV goes to a 5.1 external amplifier.

If I watch HD TV (like BBC 1 HD freeview) the TV broadcasts 5.1 to the amp. However, if I watch a Bluray disk 5.1 is NOT output from the TV.

Please ensure that the BD-F5500/XU audio output is set to PCM to be able to broadcast 5.1 to your amp.

Hi Paul,

As far as I can see the camera has Wi-Fi but not Wi-Fi Direct. This would mean you will have to use a cable to connect this to your TV.

Question

source input on start up

F8000 connected to denon amp, on start up amp auto switches to tv (hub) via arc on hdmi 3 and requires manually cycling through the sources to detect the sky input. Any way to change this setting so it auto defaults to sky input on the amp? Possibly a question for denon but worth a shout here.

Question

On screen error message when using external speak (Sonos Playbar)

I have a 55F8000, a Sky+ digital box and a Sonos Playbar.

I connect the TV optical out to the playbar, choose external speaker on the TV and use my SKY+ remote to operate the TV, Sky+ box and Sonos Playbar.

When I change the volume I get the error message "Your TV is set to use external speakers. Adjust the volume on the connected speakers directly" This has to be acknowledged with the Samsung supplied remote to remove it from the screen. This error message appears EVERY time you press up or down on the volumen control.

I read on another post that I needed to update my TV software. I have done that.

Previously I had exactly the same setup but the TV was a Samsung 40C5800 and there was NO error message so I am putting this down to being some issue with the TV? Sonos have confirmed that this is not an error with their Playbar.

Can you please offer some guidance as to how to remove this problem?

Hi

Pressing TV and Select on your Sky remote will remove this message. I would suggest using your TV speakers in conjunction to your soundbar to avoid this.

Youtube app

I have an iphone 5s and andriod hudl tab and when i select the youtube app on them and select the send to tv icon i cant find my tv, but the blueray comes up on the network there, So the tv cant be seen on the network and this stopped working or seems to be after i did the update to 1115 on the tv. But if i open the you tube app from the smart hub it works and i can stream, is this a youtube app problem or firmware, because i liked the fact you could be watching tv and anyone on your network could just send a youtube clip to the tv instantly and then go back to the tv without touching the remote. hope that makes sence.

Samsung UE55F8000STXXU Fault - Smart HUB

Hello,

We bought a new Samsung UE55F8000STXXU TV and Sound bar on Saturday, we got it home and set it up. but the smart hub wont work. I rang the support guys at samsung and they said reboot and try to download the latest software .... The current software is "1103".... please can someone HELP..... is there a place on line where i can download it from ???
