Questions & Answers for samsung 40" F7000 Series 7 Smart 3D Full HD LED TV

Question

Gaming/Input lag = POOR

The gaming on this tv is pretty poor considering the price. Is there anyway you guys can improve input lag? I know when using game mode it speeds it up but at the same time i'm losing picture quality, but then I also get a lot of motion blur from not being able to play with the settings.

Is there any possible update you could send out? or even when renaming your source to PC mode which halves the input lag could you give us a few options(colour, motion) to play with please!!!!!

To improve input lag on the F7000 (do not select the gaming mode option!) Unfortunately this will only drop input lag from 100ms to around 80ms!

A better option is to simply rename one of the four HDMI ports connected to your games console to PC or DVI PC (using the tools button on the remote) this will drop input lag to around 40-45ms.

Hopefully a future firmware update or evolution kit will improve this further.

From what I understand there was a firmware update released over in the US that seemed to have fixed this issue in some way but we've not received one over in Europe?

Hi Nova,

There are no specific setups for this TV. Settings are all about user preference and we would usually advise to contact other customers to see have they found any settigns which may be relevant to you. You can discuss this on our facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/samsunguk

Question

PVR functions

Can someone explain the 'PVR' functions of this TV?

I know it requires a plug hard disc, but what about these? :)

It has 2 tuners (freesat) so can is record 2 things at once?
does it do the series-link features?
what does it not do that a standalone PVR does do?

I have just started using it as a PVR (freeview HD) it can record one channel at a time and you can watch another or a recorded programme. You cant record two programmes at the same time. You will need a usb2 powered HDD. Note, you will be bombarded with scheduled recording notifications just before and after a recording - extremely annoying if you are watching a bluray / playing on ps3 as you have to select yes/no/cancel to get rid of the pop up.

Hi Fred,

You will need to press the 3D button on your TV control to activate 3D and scroll over to the on screen icon which shows 2 people side by side. This will merge the image and you can then activate your 3D glasses to view the 3D effects on screen.

Thanks.

Hi Ankit,

The hardware has improved from last years model and the smart features have been fully integrated into your viewing experience. As soon as you turn your TV on for example you are greeted with your TV recommendations based on your region and viewing habits. Your TV will customise itself around your needs and adapt to give you the best possible experience.

Hi Robert,

I have provided a link to all of our soundbars. If you browse them all the ones that support ARC would be most suitable for your TV. There is an option when viewing all products to compare. If you check these boxes this will give you a new page with a sided by side comparison of your selection.

Thanks.

Yes, this model has two Freeview HD tuners and two Freesat HD tuners. You can record a different channel to the one you are watching via an attached USB drive. However, the recording facilities are very basic and the TV has not replaced my existing DVR.

Question

Can I record TV shows from my F7000 onto a Network Attached Storage (NAS) drive using a wireless connection rather than using a USB connection?

I want to use the record TV function on my Samsung 40F7000 TV but am being told by the TV to plug in a USB storage device. Ideally I would like to connect wirelessly with my NAS drive to record TV shows, as well as being able to access photos and videos stored on my NAS from my TV. Is this possible, and if so how?

Question

Why is there no quick access to Sports Mode ?

I like the sports mode for watching football on my new Samsung 40" F7000 TV but it's really cumbersome to have to press "Menu" then navigate to "Smart Features" then to "Sports Mode" which is a total of 12 (yes TWELVE!!!) button presses ...

Maybe I miss something but shouldn't there be one or two button access to this very useful feature ??

Hi,

The reason there is no short link to sports mode is because this feature is not a predominently used feature on the TV. We appreciate customer feedback and this will be taken on board in future developments.

Hi Adam,

It is possible to use timeshift recording with this TV but you will need to use an external USB HDD of USB 2 standard to acheive this. A USB memory stick will not be able to be used to record timeshift.

Thanks.

Question

How to access media from a network NAS drive from my Series 7 F7000 tv?

My NAS drive used to show up in the list of sources for my TV and I could play music or videos through the set. The drive has disappeared from the list of sources that show up. I suspect that this change occurred following a firmware update.

How do I restore this connection?

Thanks
