Install new software (6.0.376) - it solves the problem. I think not as I have installed the software and still the lost library problem persists. This device is not fit for purpose.

Same is happening with me - running the latest firmware. Box is now locking up if I press the too many buttons at once. Great product poorly implemented - wish I could return it :(

Reset works but then I have to go back in and enter all the scheduled recordings - after the 5th time it gets abit repetitive.

Hi, I have carried out the upgrade as above and although it's upgraded properly the library issue is no better. The library contents have vanished almost entirely - they appear now and again but 19 times out of 20 they are not there.

I had this problem too several times (3 days ago was the last) despite being on the latest firmware for the past 6 months now. It regularly happens every other month. Doing the power off or the reset brings them back, but you loose all your scheduled recordings.

1. Unplug the box for 20 sec and plug it in again. - check if the problem was solved.
2. If not, reset to defaults - this would solve the problem, but you loose all your schedule and settings.

Hi,This is an issue that has been addressed by us in the form of a firmware update. Unfortunately there is no possible way to manually retrieve the recordings. You will need a blank USB memory stick for this. Please go to www.samsung.com/uk. Click on ''Support''. Type ''SMT-S7800'' into the field provided and press enter. Click on ''Firmware''. Download both the upgrade, and upgrade guide files. Follow the instructions in the upgrade guide. This will solve your problem and ensure this does not happen again.

I have also had this problem. I too got fed up with resetting and having to re-enter the scheduled recordings. The recent firmware update seemed to cure the problem but now I am finding other problems with the timer. Sometimes you think you have set it up to record a program, but on checking the library its not there. Sometimes it says another instance has already been scheduled when it hasn't. Sometimes it won't recognise a series. I am fed up with it.

We have had two brand new boxes and each one went faulty within the first few months (latest one was March 2012) and has had to be returned. Both times involved issues with the library which kept disappearing altogether or some bits would disappear and the list of saved stuff kept changing and coming and going. We got sick of it and went with another manufacturer in the end. Guess who? Firmware update does not work. It is a waste of time which is a shame because apart from this fault it was really good. However, we wanted a recordable box and it wasn't doing its job.

I have also bought this unit recently (November 2011) & this has now happened 3 times. Whist a reset may resolve the issue it won't stop it happening time & time again. I have also missed recordings completely because the programme list does not populate. Very dissapointed with this box & considering going back to sky+ where this problem didn't happen once in the 3 years I was a sky customer.

Question

Cannot Receive This Programme.... Please check connections

When flicking between channels, this appears to be a regular problem. I read somewhere it was due to an old LNB, so just installed a new quad LNB. It seems to have improved, but still occasionally evident, especially HD channles.
Also, when using the red button on BBC channels, selecting "Sports Multicahnnel" the problem is ALWAYS there. I have never yet successfully received the multiscreen.

This would appear to me to be yet another software problem Are other users experiencing the same, and can Samsung confirm that this is omething they are working on?

1. Ensure you have the latest software (5.0.300)
2. Make sure you have 2 wires connected (splitter doesn't work)
3. Press info 3 times and check if you can check the signal info for 2 tuners (left/right changes tuners)
4. Swap the wires to see if there is no problem with particular tuner
5. Reset to defaults and choose Two cables on Antenna settings (first installation) to make sure your box is not set up to work with 1 tuner only (if you cannot access the 2nd tuner information - see point 3.)

Question

all the deleted channels come back on to the TV list including the Adult channels.

If you delete unwanted channels (Adult & others) from the channel list.
When the Samsung go into Standby and you turn it on (Active) all the deleted channels come back on to the TV list including the Adult channels.
It looks like it is not saving the channels settings or something.

So how do you delete channels so they don't all come back on after being in standby.?
Or is this Another Software bug that need to be fix soon.

Question

Will manual adjustment / setting of recording timers and auto-padding be enabled in the SW upgrade

Will manual adjustment / setting of recording timers be enabled in the SW upgrade. Presently only the epg can be used to preset a recording, so limiting you to 7 days in advance in freesat mode and possibly only "next" programme in non-freesat (if even that works).
Will a feature for auto-padding of recording timers be included with pre-roll and pot-roll times?

Question

Power-save Mode on or off - what is the difference?

I thought turning off power-save mode may stop the unit deleting all planned non series link recordings but it did not help.

Anyway, what does it do? The manual makes no mention of it.

The unit seems to use 0.7 watt in standby whether the option is on or off.

Seems to be uPnP but only basic media servers seem to work like the one in Windows Media player, and one included with Pure DAB streaming radios. MP3 works well, but video needs to be AVI with DivX or xVid codecs only at 25 FPS.

I think the only way to connect the stb to a LAN is via the ethernet socket, rather than the USB socket. The dongle only links to a storage device. The only other option is via a powerline coneection through a mains socket.

Question

Cannot Receive This Programme.... Please check connections - Horizontal Polarity Channels

I've just purchased a new SMT-S7800 box and have found that I intermittently lose access to all horizontal polarity channels (e.g. BBC1, BBC2, Five, More4+1). More often that not I get the "Cannot Receive This Programme" error on these channels. Vertical polarity channels are working consistently, with no issues.

I've just switched over from a Sky box, with which I had no signal problems. I've even switched back and the Sky box is still working well.

My signal strength is 80% and signal quality 90% on the vertical polarity channels. On horizontal channels both show as 0%. Software level is 5.0.301.

Is this potentially a problem with the new box ? Or is the new box more sensitive to signal - and if so, what can I do to resolve ?

Thanks.

Fortunately I can answer my own question, after finding the time and energy to get up to the roof.

The new box does appear to be more sensitive to signal than the old Sky box. Tightening a very slightly loose nut on the LNB connection has resolved the issue for now.

So I'm fully up and running, the box is working well and as yet there is no sign of the software bugs mentioned in some other posts.
