SD card not detected

Hi, my SD card is inserted in my phone but I cant access anything on my SD card. It says that my phone doesnt have a SD card inserted. Even when I connect my phone to my PC, still nothing pops up. Please help

Hi Rezwana.

It could be that the SD card you have has become corrupt somehow. Do you have another SD card you could try out?

If not, you would need to take the device to your local Samsung service centre to be inspected by a Samsung engineer. You can find your nearest repairer using the locator in the link below.

Hi Heena,

Are you running the latest firmware update on your phone?

You could also try clearing the cache and data from the application. You can do this by going to Settings > Application Manager > Click the App > Tap Clear cache + Clear Data. Then reboot the phone.

If this still does not work, you could try a full factory reset. Before you do this, please ensure to back up all of your important files externally. Go to; Settings > Privacy > Factory Data Reset.

How to free up internal memory?

i only have Gmail app downloaded on my phone, have had to uninstall Facebook since the recent upgrade whereby I can no longer store the app on my SD card since the app is processing on the phone, Google Play services runs at about 50Mb of data every few minutes no matter how often I clear the data. All my pictures are stored on the SD card so literally I have 1x1Mb app that Ive downloaded and everything else is factory installed...how can this be a smartphone when I cant even use it for Facebook? Does everyone else have the same experience? How can actually improve the phone so that I can use it as a smartphone rather than just a big standard phone?

Hi Michele,

I appreciate this must be frustrating however, there is only limited internal storage on this device. Have you tried saving your apps to the SD card? It may not be possible on some, but it may on others. Go to, Settings > Application Manager > tap the app and move to SD card.

Have you tried saving your contacts to your SIM card? You can do this by going to; Contacts > tap Options > Import/export > Export to SIM card.

Alternatively, you could try a factory reset to wipe your phone back to factory settings. This will remove any junk or unwanted files stored on the phone. Go to, Settings > Privacy > factory data reset > Reset phone > Erase Everything.

For the Galaxy Ace, please ensure you download Samsung Kies and not Samsung Kies 3.

Hi Julie, You will need to press Apps> Tap Email> Tap Menu> Tap Settings> Tap Manage accounts> Tap the Delete button> Tap the Account you wish to delete> Tap the Done button> Tap the Delete button. Hope this helps.

Hi.

Kindly note that not all applications can be saved on to your SD card. This is down to the application manufacturer. The option to transfer to SD card will be greyed out if the option is unavailable.

Hi,

From the home screen tap Apps > My Files > All Files > Device storage > Pictures > Select the Files > tap the Options icon > Move > SD Memory Card > Tap Move Here. Hope this helps.

Hi.

I recommend trying a hard reset on your device. You can do this by following these steps:

- With the phone switched off, press and hold the Volume Up key and the Home key, then press and hold the Power key. At this point you should see the Android recovery screen.
- Scroll to Wipe Data/Factory Reset using the Volume Up or Down keys. Select with the power key.
- Scroll down to Yes, Delete User Data and select it.
- Back on the first screen, scroll down to Wipe Cache Partition and select it.
- Your factory reset is now complete.
- Go to Reboot System Now to restart the phone.
