Question

Why can I not get Whatsapp

I recently purchased this item and I am having problems with it. I do not have any websites saved on phone. I have tried putting whatsapp on my phone to be able to send pics. It will not allow me to do this. The first few times I have tried I kept being informed that their was an error, then I keept trying but I just kept being informed that I have insurficient memory. It will not let me past this in anyway so it just takes me back to the lnstall. I have also been having problems when people send me a picture or a text message that is more than 1 page long it will not bring up the details it prompts me to go to a web page to be able to retreve the picture/text message. I have also tried installing you tube and once it is installed I get text messages every day saying insurficient memory, but I do not have anything loaded that would take up the memory. Please help as I am getting to the stage where I will bring the phone back. I know 4 other people who have exactly the same phone and they do not have any of these problems, infact it is them telling me that I should have whatsapp on my phone and they cannot install it onto my phone. Hi Duffj,

Yes, any message that contains over 160 characters will automatically be converted in to a MMS message.

This is a feature of the Android operating system and cannot be changed. You may be able to download a third party messaging application from the Google Play store that will allow you to send longer SMS message.

Hi,

This will depend on the particular app you are wanting to upload.

By searching keywords in the Google Play store you can see applications available to download to your Galaxy Ace.

Please note, Samsung cannot guarantee compatibility with any application not developed by Samsung, ultimately it is the responsibility of the third party developer to ensure their applications are compatible with our devices and their current firmware.

Question

Samsung Galaxy Ace battery gone haywire

I noticed sometime after charging my phone and unplugging it that it still had that 100% charged removed charger notification displayed. I removed the battery and all seemed OK. Later on as the battery life had decreased I put it back on charge but it wouldn't charge. I used the USB charger and that too didn't work. I then noticed a few minutes later that the battery was increasing but it didn't say it was charging. It then got stuck at 99% so I removed the charger. About 30 minutes later I removed the battery again and the phone wouldn't switch on unless the charger was in. It then charged to 100% and beeped but the 100% icon and remove charger message wouldn't go when I removed the charger. I removed the battery again and had to press the on button twice before it would switch on. The100% icon and removed battery message had disappeared and the battery life showed as 87%. I put it back on charge and noticed it was increasing. I unplugged it at 99% and when it had run down to 95% I switched it off and on again and the battery showed as 87%. I thought it was just coincidental that both times it came back on at 87% but I then noticed that even though it was NOT on charge the battery level increased. I switched it off for a few minutes and when back on the battery was 87% again. I left it on and the battery has increased to and remained at 94%. On switching it off again the battery displays at 85% but I guess the cycle will continue.

What is wrong with the phone? It is still working perfectly and there are no other problems with it. Looking on the internet I can't find anything that is similar to this so wonder if anyone else has experienced this.

All help/ideas appreciated. If it needs repairing does anyone have an idea of prices?

Question

Battery constantly shows as charging when unplugged, phone randomly shuts off

Over the past 2 weeks my phone has increasingly become more unreliable by switching off when it has only recently been charged and the battery still has plenty of charge. The phone constantly shows the charging (battery charging symbol) when the phone has been unplugged. As the main carer for my children I need to be available to contact 24/7 when they are at school and this is causing me serious issues as I am constantly unable to rely on my mobile phone as a point of contact. I have updated phone with all available updates showing via my mobile on the Samsung website.

Hi,

You may not be able to set it as a message tone, it would depend on the format of the file.

You change your message tone by navigating to the following menu:

Messages > Tap on the menu key at the bottom left hand side of the handset > Scroll down to Notification Settings > Select Ringtone.

Hi,

It is most likely a minor software confliction that is causing this issue to occur.

These minor software issues can easily be resolved by performing a factory reset on your device.

You can perform a factory reset on your device by navigating to the following menu:

Settings > Backup and reset > Factory data reset

Please note you will lose all applications and saved data, including your Google account, so ensure that you back up your device prior to performing the reset. This may help resolve any issues you are having.

If you continue to experience these issues after the reset please contact our Technical Support Team for further assistance on 0330 7267864.
