Unfortunately the battery on a smartphone does not last as long as older phones. However there are applications available in the Android Market to help! I strongly recommend an app called Juice Defender. I can honestly say that it has doubled the interval between charges for me. It works by disabling the data connection when the screen is off, which makes sense because if the screen is off you are not using the phone.
I don't have any affiliation with the makers of Juice Defender, I am just a happy user of the app.

I have had my Galaxy Ace for a couple of weeks. The battery is lasting a day or two before it needs charging. If you look under settings, about phone, battery use, you can see what is running it down. I turn off the Bluetooth and GPS unless I need to use them. When you charge the phone keep charging it until you get a notification that the battery is full, this is some time after the green battery icon on the screen shows full. Check that you have the current android version 2.3.3.

Hi Steve,

On other samsung touch screen phone we need to press the volume up and down to adjust the font size of the text messages, on the galaxy phone there is no option to adjust the font size of the text messages, we can actually download an apps at the market place and look for font that is big enough for us. the pitch to zoom on the galaxy phone can only be used if we are on the mobile internet.

The Galaxy Ace uses a pinch and press system. If you place your thumb and index finger on the centre of the screen and spread them it will increase the size.

Question

Short battery life

My battery needs recharging every 24-36 hours. I check running services and find there are some that appear (email, google services, maps) when I haven't been using them. I stop these but are there any "Samsung" running services that I should stop to prevent the short battery life. It wasn't like this until recently. Any suggestions?

Thank you. I have already done all you suggested. I took the phone to the shop today and they took a good look and couldn't see anything running that would be causing this and suggest it is the battery itself that is the problem. As I've only had the phone for 6 months surely this shouldn't be the case? The shop do not sell batteries so could not replace it for me.

Hi Saskamay,

There are a few features that may improve your battery life by turning them off. I would suggest turning off bluetooth, wifi when your not using it, switching to 2G networks when you do not require intensive data, turning off sync on your phone and turning off GPS. Also reducing your screen brightness will help improve your battery life as the screen is probably the biggest drain on a phone battery. I hope all this information helps.

Thanks.

When you pair the phone with the Bluetooth in the car, check in the notification area at the top left of your phone screen. When I paired my phone there was a message asking if I wanted to share my phone book with the car. When I selected yes, all my contacts and call lists appeared on the car display.
