Question

Why is my wifi not working?

The wifi on my GT-N7000 used to work perfectly, but one day it just turned itself off and cannot be switched on! The Wifi symbol in the notification panel is a dull green (not greyed-out as it would be when switched off, but also not bright green as it would be when switched on). When I try to turn wifi back on it says "Turning on..." then does nothing. I don't recall having had a system update or installing any new apps immediately before this problem occured. Restarting in safe mode made no difference, neither did removing the battery/sim/SD card.

Hi,

This sounds like it may be a firmware glitch on your Note, a way to trying to resolve this is by performing a factory data reset on your device.

Please backup your phone using Samsung KIES. Perform a factory reset by pressing Menu > settings > Accounts > Backup and reset > Factory data reset . When this is completed please connect your phone to Samsung KIES and restore your phone.

What does it mean when it says "deleting failed"?

i am trying to free up some space on my device, i am trying to delete any and all files on my device that belong to applications that i no longer have installed, but every time i try to delete something my device says deleting failed. how do i know why the deleting failed?

my imei has changed

my imei has changed overnight to 00499901040000/01 this seems very common according to a google of the imei code im now getting. im still able to go online or use apps that need net access, but i cant make calls/texts or get them.. ive done a factory restore but still have the same imei code.. how do i get my imei back to what it should be.. thanks. the phone is a contract phone which started in sept 12

Hi Darren,

The IMEI number within the phone settings should match the IMEI number behind the battery on the back of your phone.

This will not change granted you do not route or unlock the phone to other networks.

If you are worried about your phone you can have it looked at by a Samsung engineer, there are two options for this;

Firstly you can take it to a local service centre, find your nearest one by clicking on the link below;

Question

Battery drain problem since firmware update

Had a message a couple of weeks ago to update the firmware on my Note, updated to Android 4.1.2 and since then the phone is useless as the battery drains from full charge to empty in about an hour if wi-fi or location is on or if my e-mails are synced and the phone is running very hot. Surely Samsung should check these updates before issuing them. At the moment I can only use my phone with all apps/services switched off if I want my battery to last but, even then, it only lasts for a few hours whereas it used to last a couple of days with fairly light use. I'm not the only one that this has happened to - check Google. I just want my Note to work as it did before this stupid update - help!

Hi,

Please kindly note that old systems settings can be left on the phone after an update occurs, which is why we usually recommend a full factory reset after updating. If this isn’t done your device may begin to give false readings from system resources, or experience technical problems, which may explain the issue you are having.

My GT N7000 is very slow to charge , even after i have replaced the battery.

It can up to 10 hours to charge. Try switching of and on with no avail.

Hi,

Please ensure you are using the standard Samsung charger that came with the handset. If you are using the charger provided with your Galaxy Note then we recommend you search for any available firmware updates.

This can be done by downloading Samsung Kies and connecting your device to your PC via a USB cable.

Alternatively, you can go to Settings > About device > Software update. Please note, some network providers do not offer this facility.

If the issue still persists then reset the device by going to Settings > Back up and reset > Factory data reset. Prior to resetting, please ensure all your files and data are backed up via Samsung Kies.

You cannot move apps to SD card. I would advise you to move your pictures and videos to your SD card which will free some space.

How do I stop my sms to become mms.

Since jelly bean update my sms will automatically become mms if too long.

My phone cannot find my SDcard.

My phone cannot find SDcard. I cannot take picture, open gallery, send and get picture in LINE or Whatsapp and also cannot use Dropbox. When I try to open gallery or other app, the msg that said " not enough space" come up. However, I have alrady remove everything in my SDcard. Then I try a new SDcard, but it has a same problems.

I have just used Kies to download the latest firmware release to my Galaxy Note GT-N7000, but almost all my most used apps have disappeared.

When I try to download them again from Playstore, the installation fails with the message 'unknown error code during application installation "-24"'. Help! I am disabled and depend on these apps on my phone. Please fix this for me.

Question

Samsung Galaxy turns off

I am finding that when I have a weak or no signal, then as the phone searches for on I get interference on the screen, the signal then goes to absolute zero and the phone turns off. I then turn it back on and it tells me my battery strength has dropped from near 100% down to anything from 1% to 10%.
Vodafone said to reinstall the phones software but no idea how to do this as my software is all up to date.
