Question

MP3 and OGG files both have stuttering audio

I've noticed that whether playing through the default music player or other apps, the music stutters. I've tried shutting down and uninstalling apps which might be interfering with audio, turned off wifi, bluetooth, mobile data, even switched it into aeroplane mode, but absolutely nothing makes a difference.

Advice re: downloading entire (Factory default) operating system

Could anyone please please advise (link preferred) as to downloading complete factory default (updated) operating system for the GT I9300: without using OTA or Kies. I'm looking to download to a PC and install from there. Many thanks

Hi Tinsley Alec,

We can only recommend if you are using a PC to perform this with Samsung KIES. Any other method of doing software update besides OTA may be treated as tampering with the device and void the warranty.

Thanks.

Hi Anonymous,

This will be dependant on how you backed it up. If you used Samsung KIES to back up you would plug your handset into KIES and select restore.

Thanks.

Can't make phone calls using the normal phone keypad?

Whenever I try calling someone using the phone keypad, after selecting the number or pressing new number and later pressing the dial key, it never connects so I dial the same on viber and then call through that instead of using the phone keypad. Any help?

Hi Sarah,

The default applications on the lock screen on the SIII are as follows; 'Phone', 'Messaging', 'Google Search', 'Internet' and 'Camera'. Please note, that these short cuts are only available if the Lock screen is set to 'Swipe'.

To change the short applications on the Lock screen go to Settings > Lock screen >Lock screen options > Shortcuts. You can delete short cuts by pressing and dragging an application to the 'Bin' at the bottom of the screen. You can add application by pressing the plus sign (+) to the right of the screen.

There maybe third party applications available from the Google Play Store that may allow voice calls to be made via a 3G or WiFi internet connection.

Question

Having problems with tethering driver

Hi,

Just recently got a Windows 8 laptop and I can't get USB tethering to work. I had it working briefly but now it refuses to work whenever it is plugged in. Windows complains that it's not been able to load the correct drivers. I've tried doing a driver rollback but that doesn't work. I don't think it's the phone because I had it working on a couple of Windows 7 machines. Any help would be appreciated.

Question

galaxy s3 stuck on 'emergency calls'

My galaxy s3 was working fine but then it went to 'emergency calls' which means I can't swipe the screen to unlock it. I have tried taking battery and sim card out and have left it to drain power but still restarts in same mode. I have tried connecting to kies to do a reset but kies is saying the phone is locked and need to put the password in which would be on the phone which I can't access! any suggestions?

Hi,

We recommend that you take the device, with the proof of purchase to confirm your warranty, to one of our local Service Centres to see if they can resolve the issue for you.

We recommend calling the walk-in centre before making any travel plans to ensure a more convenient service. If you would like to check for alternative service centres by postcode, please click on the link below and choose ‘Mobile Phones’ from the drop down menu:
