Question

my partner has just had a galaxy s3 and the software updater is almost constantly running

her phone feels hot to the touch and her power drops and is always on charge,sometimes twice in one day. I have tried forcing a shutdown and unticked the automatically update box but it keeps restarting again. is there a way to remove the software or even preferably just disable it as the disable function is greyed out. Question

My Phone has a charging issue - Marble White S3

My phone struggles to hold its charge while in use and on the battery setting it says my screen is taking 63% of it up. I have tried factory resetting it twice, changing the battery and the charger cable and nothing has changed this. also when charging while on it charges VERY slowly and while turned off i can get about 50% charge in 24 hours.

Samsung Galaxy S3 Keeps Freezing

The last few days it keeps freezing and now will not switch on, I have tried taking the battery out and replacing but it still won't work. can you please advise if this is some kind of software problem as it appears other people are having the same problem with the freezing but no one else has reported that they cannot get their phone back on.

We have no official release date for the SIII in the UK receiving an update to 4.2.

You can check for available updates for your device on its support page on our website or by connecting to Samsung KIES.

Hi Pambos,

Download Samsung Kies - http://www.samsung.com/uk/support/usefulsoftware/KIES/JSP - and connect your Ace to your PC and back up your data via Kies.

Once this is done, connect your SIII to your PC and transfer the files the SIII handset.

On the link provided above, there is a tutorial video which will assist you.

SAMSUNG KIES CRASHING NOT UPDATING OR BACKUP

I have a Samsung S3 having trouble with backup and sync, only been successful twice in the last month. Kies seems very unstable always crashing etc running Windows 8 on an acer laptop. \anyone help ??

Hi Stifler,

Please note that custom notification tones - such as SMS tones - are not supported by the Android OS, however this may be addressed in a future firmware update.

Question

I dropped my S3 and the screen has smashed, how much is a repair?

There are cracks all over the screen, however only a few can be felt, it still works and still takes pics etc. Does anyone know how much it would be to get repaired? And how I go about it?

why does the Samsung galaxy 3 screen crack so easy?

Only had it for two days and slipped out my hand and cracked the screen.I know now its happens a lot because I I read so many that its happened to. Why does it cost so much to fix? Also it seems like a weak spot on the Galaxy 3.

Hi Jilly,

The SIII Super AMOLED screen - like screens on all our devices - is susceptible to cracking/scratching if dropped onto a hard or solid surface. It must be stressed that the screen is not 'crack proof'.

Pricing for replacement screens are set by Service Centres.

screen hairline crack but wasn't touched?!?!

My other half made a call - lasted about 20 mnins then closed the case (has the samsung s3 smart cover one). When he picked it up to make another call about half an hour later there was a crack from the volume button accross the screen but no one had touched it - he did comment on the phone being rather hot after the 1st call..... anyone else experienced this?? has it happened because of a fault??

Phone suddenly stopped working and won't switch on

hi, can anyone suggest what to do or where to find help with S3 that has suddenly switched off and doesn't seem to be working? I removed the battery and tried pressing the start button but no sign of life.

Question

Is there or is there not a solution to the common SIII 'sudden death' syndrome?

This particular model has a problem with randomly switching off so that I have to re-boot it via the power button. I am on my 3rd SIII which was recently repaired yet I still have the same problem, is there a known solution to this or should I be thinking of getting a different hand set?

Hi,

In the first instance, can you attempt to update the phone's software either by going to Settings > About device > Software update or by downloading and connecting the handset to Samsung Kies.

If no update is available, please reset the device by going to Settings > Back up and reset > Factory data reset. Prior to resetting, please ensure all files and media are backed up via Samsung Kies.

I have a replacement S3 as I broke the screen on my old one. I've transferred all my contacts/music/photos etc but how can I transfer all my apps to save me having to download everything again and start from the beginning?

Hi,

Your downloaded Apps will be saved to the Google Play Store via your gmail account. Simply go to Play Store > My Apps and download onto your new SIII.

Hi,

To use video calling, simply go to Contacts and single tap the recipient you wish to video call. You will then be given the option to 'Video call' which can be found under the contact's mobile number.
