Question

Could anyone help me with this text messaging problem (SGS3) ?

When using predictive text there is no option to add custom words ?
I've tried searching through all the settings but I can't seem to find a solution. Maybe its a stock software problem ?
I've also tried using youtube for help on this and come accross atleast one other person with the same problem. We are both in the UK if this helps ?

I will attach a screen shot to try make my problem more clear.

On the SGS1 I know you could click to see your suggested words from the dictionary and there at the bottom of the list would be the button to add a custom word, as you see on the screen shot its not there on the S3 ?

There is no such word list option on my phone. I followed the instructions given here and the only options under 'Predictive text' were:
> Personalised data (checkbox)
> Learn from Facebook
> Learn from Gmail
> Learn from Twitter
> Clear remote data
> Clear personalised data

My device is the international version of the S3 (GT-I9300) running version 4.1.2. Might yours be different?

Dear Coleman,

I think I just found what you are looking for.

1) Go into "Language and input" settings
2) Click the Samsung keyboard setting
3) Click "Predictive Text"
4) Scroll Down and click "My Word List"
5) Simply add your custom words here

I added one word, "hemlp" and when tried to input "he" it came up.

Snap shot attached for reference.

I hope it solves your question.

Your device will need to be looked at by a Samsung engineer, there is two option for this.

Firstly you can take it to a Local Samsung Service Centre, you can find your nearest one by following the link provided;

http://www.samsung.com/uk/support/l...

Or you can arrange a repair over the phone, you can do this by calling our Galaxy Team on 0330 726 7864.

Hi,

Unfortunately it is not possible to downgrade your software after it has been updated.

However, Old systems settings can be left on the phone after an update occurs, which is why we usually recommend a full factory reset after updating.

If this isn’t done your device may begin to give false readings from system resources, or experience technical problems, which may explain the issue you are having.

We would advise on doing the following, which is designed to reset the settings on your device. Please back up your device using Samsung KIES before you do this.

You can perform a factory reset on your device by navigating to the following menu:

Settings > Backup and reset > Factory data reset

If you continue to experience these issues after the reset please contact our Technical Support Team for further assistance on 0330 7267964.

Thanks

Question

How long till android 4.3 on S3 is fixed! Re-release 4.2 till you get it right!!!

Both me and my partner have a SIII and they keep freezing, cutting off calls, patchy WI-FI, turning off on their own, killing battery life (is 1/2 a day instead of at least a full day) and server lag with touch screen ever since the relise of android 4.3. Phones are practically useless at the moment. Can you re-release 2.4 until 4.3 is fixed.

We are reconsidering updating to S4 and the longer this problem persists the more likely it will be that we choose another device!

Question

Dreadful S3 Android 4.3 Upgrade

I made the mistake of accepting the Android 4.3 Upgrade a couple of weeks ago. The battery now only lasts for a maximum of 7 hours the phone is very unresponsive. It sometimes has to be hard reset by long pressing the power key or removing the battery. Why oh why can't you test these things before releasing them? When will a be a patch released to make the phone work? I'll give it another week, but after that I'll be returning it to the retailer for a refund. Last Samsung product I ever buy!

There is suposedly software that can do this? and I have downloaded many versions to my PC, however the problem is that in order to do the job they ALL require that the phone be conected as an external hard drive that uses "UMS", but the phone will only conect to pc with "MPT" as "external media player" so none of the software can detect it?!! very frustrating. Touch and hold on the 'Internet' icon on your homescreen, then a rubbish bin appears in bottom right of screen, drag the icon there and let go (this removes the existing icon from your homescreen).
Then click Apps icon (where the rubbish bin was) and look for Chrome, touch and hold the Chrome icon and drag to the place where the Internet icon used to be, then let go.

Pull down screen and make sure WiFi is switched on.
also press settings and make sure WiFI switch is on (pull sign to the right) and registered with your router SSID. No.
I am with SKY, so when it works correctly it should light up at the bottom of screen with the Number on.

Question

Galaxy S3 freezing and restarting (4.1.2)

Over the last month or so my phone has started to reboot of it's own accord. It would generally happen when I wasn't using the phone, I'd just notice that the screen came alive with the Samsung boot logo or I'd activate it and it would be locked due to a reboot. It seems to have been happening since the latest Jelly bean update (4.1.2) received OTA in December.

In the last couple of days, it has also started to freeze when using the phone. There's no specific app or function that causes this. The only solution is to soft-reset by holding down the power button to reboot or leave it for about 10-20 minutes to right itself.

Things I've noted:
- This happens regardless of WiFi on/off.
- This happens regardless of Location Services on/off.
- On restart an app is generally updated (although this may just be coincidence).
- I've uninstalled the last few apps that I downloaded, before the problem began, to no avail.
