Question

Could anyone help me with this text messaging problem (SGS3) ?

When using predictive text there is no option to add custom words ?
I've tried searching through all the settings but I can't seem to find a solution. Maybe its a stock software problem ?
I've also tried using youtube for help on this and come accross atleast one other person with the same problem. We are both in the UK if this helps ?

I will attach a screen shot to try make my problem more clear.

On the SGS1 I know you could click to see your suggested words from the dictionary and there at the bottom of the list would be the button to add a custom word, as you see on the screen shot its not there on the S3 ?

Dear Coleman,

I think I just found what you are looking for.

1) Go into "Language and input" settings
2) Click the Samsung keyboard setting
3) Click "Predictive Text"
4) Scroll Down and click "My Word List"
5) Simply add your custom words here

I added one word, "hemlp" and when tried to input "he" it came up.

Snap shot attached for reference.

I hope it solves your question.

Have a look in the manual. Sounds like it's the "Silent mode activated (mute)" icon. Which would explain the problem.

Touch and hold on the 'Internet' icon on your homescreen, then a rubbish bin appears in bottom right of screen, drag the icon there and let go (this removes the existing icon from your homescreen).
Then click Apps icon (where the rubbish bin was) and look for Chrome, touch and hold the Chrome icon and drag to the place where the Internet icon used to be, then let go.

Not to sure if this will help you.
Pull down screen and make sure WiFi is switched on.
also press settings and make sure WiFI switch is on (pull sign to the right) and registered with your router SSID. No.
I am with SKY, so when it works correctly it should light up at the bottom of screen with the Number on.

Question

Very Very Slow Phone which is locking up

I purchased my SG3 pre-owned in January - been excellent until yesterday when it was incredibly slow to respond to anything, from unlocking the screen to opening apps like GMAIL, facebook and even the text messaging app.

Eventually it froze on me completely with a black screen and all I could do was remove the battery to bring it back to life.

Since then I've removed some of the most recent apps I've installed but it is still very laggy and slow to respond.

A factory reset is not ideal as I have it set up just how I want it and don;t fancy having to set it all up again.

A quick scoot on Google revealed a number of users with similar issues but no real resolution. One site I found advised that it is down to a chip on the system board and advised running an app will reveal if this chip is faulty. I ran it and it told me the chip was one prone to lock up the phone.

Has anyone else had a problem like this and been able to resolve it?

I'm not sure where I stand with Samsung/warranty claim as I have not had phone from new although I believe it is still within the first years warranty.

Hi,

In the first instance, we would recommend a factory data reset which should resolve the issue. Alternatively, you can contact our SIII Support team on 0330 7267864 (Option 3, Option 1) so we can book the device in for repair.

Thanks.

Question

How to stop junk mail notifications

My Galaxy S3 has started to alert me everytime I receive junk mail or every time I delete an email without reading it. This was never an issue until I accessed the junk mail folder on my phone. Ever since then I am getting constant notifications of junk. Obviously the only notifications I want are for emails to my inbox. A quick search in google suggests this is an issue for many other people too but the only solution I can find is to delete my email account, set it up again and make sure I don't access the junk folder! Please can somebody help me fix this issue without having to do this?

Question

Duplicate Calendar Entries When Syncing with Microsoft Exchange

Recently, as in this week, I received a Galaxy SIII, but I’m facing major issues when trying to sync it with our Microsoft Exchange server. Email, Contacts and tasks sync without an issue, but the S Planner, Calendar is being filled up with duplicate entries – in some cases up to 50 duplicate entries.

I only have the Exchange calendar selected, all other calendars have been unselected and aren’t syncing. Have also tried removing and readding the exchange account numerous times, it is fine for about an hour, then the duplicate entries start flooding in. Just doing a web search this seems to be a common issue but with no real resolution.

It seems to be each time the phone syncs with exchange it enters another duplicate calendar item, it’s as if the phone isn’t saying, whoa there, I already have this in the calendar, I don’t need to know about it again.

Has anyone had the same issue and if so how did you manage to resolve it. I don’t want to purchase another calendar or piece of sync software as this is a very basic function for the phone to support, if it is incapable, then I will have to return the phone, which will be a shame as it is a good phone, it’s just this one item that is letting it down.

Question

This device is not supported by Kies 2.0 error message with Galaxy SIII

I have Kies 2.5.3.13033_7 loaded on a Windows 7 64-bit laptop and when I connect my SIII I’m getting “This device is not supported by Kies 2.0” error message. I have uninstalled and reinstalled Kies and I still have the same message. I had no issues connecting before. I’ve searched other forums and it looks as though I’m not the only one having this issue with an SIII – the only suggestion was to reload Kies. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi,

Windows should find these drivers automatically upon connecting any external device to your PC/Laptop. If the drivers are not loading successfully you may need to open the Device Manager feature on your computer. The SIII should show here as a portable device with the full name and model code. If it does not appear here, you can avail of the Microsoft 'update driver' feature via Device Manager. Please note if your device is not recognised by the Device manager feature the Kies program will also not recognise the phone

Thanks.
