How to remove phone lock

I am unable to use my phone because of a phone lock I have tried various numbersbut after each one it says "wrong password" so I am not sure whether its phone lock (needs number) or password needs letters. either way I am unable to use it. I have tried PUK code and this does not work either - help please

Can I use my current SIM card (from a more advance 3G smartphone) on this?

My main phone broke so I'm wanting a cheap phone to use whilst I wait for a new one. Was going to buy a SIM free E1200 but with my SIM card being from a contract phone with 3G, will it work on this phone? Obvoiusly I won't be able to access the internet but so long as I can call and text people.

It won’t be a problem using your old SIM card in another phone providing the new phone is unlocked from any networks and the two phones use the same sized SIM cards.
