Disabling the answerphone is a network function. Ask your network operator's helpline. For Talkmobile it is just a matter of dialling 1210 to disable, or 1211 to enable. For Orange you have to call their helpline and ask them to disable it.

Hi Ian, Is there a message displayed on screen when the SIM card is inserted? The phone could be locked to a specific network which would block the use of other network SIMS, or it could be an issue with either the SIM card or the phone. Can you please try an alternative SIM card to see if this will resolve the issue.

If this fails, we would advise you to return it to the retailer and obtain a replacement device. We hope you get this resolved soon.

If the password has been lost/forgotten then the device would need a software reset, or re-flashing of the software in order to have it bypass the screen lock. How do I select network options, so that I can switch to manual?

I cannot see any where on samsung gt-e1080i that shows "network options". My texts are all coming in a day or more late and I need to try the various pieces of advice for rectifying it, one of which is to switch from automatic to manual selection. This seems to be a choice that cannot be made on this phone! Surely they would not have left it off?
