Is this lens suitable for safari photographs

I have a Samsung NX5 camera and am going on safari the advice is to have a lens with a focal length of at least 300mm.
Will this camera with the 50 - 200 mm NX Telephoto Zoom Lens be suitable for decent holiday photographs?

Yes, well it is the best for it apart from the 18-200mm which costs a fortune. Plus, considering that Samsung does not have any 300mm lenses or anything above 200mm. And to be honest the difference from 200mm to 300mm is like 18mm to 30mm(or even less).

Hi,

Looks like You are not zooming in but manually focusing (or maybe accidentally touching focus ring while zooming) - during that process camera is magnifying centre of the picture on LCD for accurate focusing, then when shutter is pressed goes back to full frame view.

I observe colored fringing using this lens. Does it need repair or is it design?

Even at high shutter speeds and medium apertures, no portion of my .SRW (RAW) photos are without the fringing/fuzziness at 100% magnification. The symptoms seem to fit the description of "chromatic aberration". I require sharp photographs. Is my lens defective specifically (i.e., repair needed) or is this fault inherent in its design? I don't observe it as much in the 18-55mm kit lens. (I cannot upload a .SRW file for review here, they are much larger than 5 mb; cropped files are saved as .jpg and are processed to generically fuzzy, removing the chromatic fringing.)

Lens doesn't autofocus

I purchased this lens (50-200 OIS) in a pack with the NX1000 and the 20-50mm lens. The 50-200 lens doesn't auto focus, but the 20-50 lens does. I have the lens switch set to AF, but it doesn't autofocus in SMART mode, and in the other settings (P,A,S, M) I am only given the MF option in the camera's AF settings (SAF and CAF are greyed-out). Is there anything else I should try?
